Reflecting on the past and planning the future of The Umbrella.
Happy 2 years of The Umbrella! Time truly does fly when you’re having fun, and ironically, my 5-star idea on a $2 budget still hasn’t progressed as much as I’d hoped. What a reminder that the days pass me by.
As I reflect on the past two years, I feel proud to have written pieces that serve as outlets for me to express my creativity and whimsicality, but I am also humbled by the lack of articles. I set my expectations too high, thinking I would write consistently and much more each month. Even so, I’m learning to appreciate the small wins and progress I’ve made along the way.
For instance, getting a domain name is a huge win, making this silly website feel a little more official. I am reminded that progress isn’t just about how much I write but about reaching certain milestones, whether improving this website or refining content. Of course, there is so much more I want to do, but I’m proud of the journey so far, and I’m learning that it’s okay to take small steps. After all, small progress is still progress.
As I look ahead, I really, truly desperately hope and want to keep this site thriving with new content, perhaps by doing a monthly recap of my life. I also envision expanding my content to more fun blog pieces like recipe-sharing or a little section for photography. Eventually (low-key, this is very much inching closer to making a 5-year plan), I plan to build my website with a more personalized UI that captures my vision.
In time, this will come. Let this be set in stone as evidence of my ambition and commitment! I must be held accountable, or else this will turn into yet another humbling and embarrassing reminder of how I fell short again (lol).
